Production Design & Scenic Construction
We can help create a scenic design, furniture rental package, or build plan for your event. We can also bring in scenic charge artists to paint walls, sets, and floors. If you have a design, we can work to plan the build and painting of that scenic design.
JBP worked with the conceptual design of art teacher Sally Gaughenbaugh to create a set of build plans for Seussical the Musical. Tom Romeck, the fabrication lab teacher, and his students then built the set based on these plans. Sally and her student painted it in segments before Tom’s students assembled it. All of these set pieces are based on designs in the Stock Scenery Construction Handbook, allowing for a sustainable design with minimal scenic waste between shows.
Standard Services
Scenic Design
We can collaborate as much or as little as you like on the design phase of the scenic process. Our involvement allows for sketches, renderings, and other preliminary design work to understand the scenic needs of the show. We can even help make a to-scale 3D model!
Technical Direction
When the design is ready to move forward, the technical planning phase begins. We can take you design and drill into the construction plan, material needs, and budget of that design. This allows for accurate ordering and efficient buildout of the set. We base most of our construction designs on the Stock Scenery Construction Handbook, Second Edition.
Scenic Construction & Painting
Once your set design is ready for build, we can construct it and turn it over in manageable pieces for painting and simple assembly. We can also work with professional scenic charge artists to paint the set and deliver it to you, ready to perform on. We are always happy to assemble the set for you or tear it down for storage. Ask about a sustainable set design to ensure maximum reusability of your investment.

We can even help you get your play, musical, concert, or sporting event online (licensing permitting).
